In which followers are to be confused

I’d like to start this particular post with a disclaimer. Uh oh, Ruth’s getting defensive right off the bat. This should be good. Wait a minute…what? Ruth?! What happened to Johnny? It’s his day to post! I can handle a short dose every once in a while, but having Ruth post twice in one week is excessive. Just because she came up with this idea doesn’t mean she can do whatever she wants. She’s talking over! We can’t stand for this. We must rebel!!

Keep your browsers open folks; it’s nothing to fret about. Our promising young wrestling star had a tournament today (and he's going to regionals!!), so he asked ever-so-politely if I would mind taking the reign for a bit. Oh, did I type reign? Ha ha…. I meant reins. Seriously, I’m not getting power hungry or anything, just being a nice elder sister. You can believe me or else. Not. Sorry, you can believe me or not.

But I digress. My original disclaimer was not, in fact, that I’m not taking over the blog (though that is also true). My disclaimer was that I think Spanish is really cool. I completely respect it as a language. However, I have to tell the truth: Italian is cooler.

To illustrate my point, I have uploaded an mp3 of myself reading the first paragraph of one of my favorite Italian novels, If on a Winter’s Night a Traveler (alternatively, Se una notte d’inverno un viaggiatore) in Italian [Ruth reading in Italian!], as well as links to the first couple pages in Italian and English:

Se una notte d'inverno un viaggiatore

If on a Winter's Night a Traveler

Once you read and listen to those resources, I have no doubt you will all agree that Italian is better. (Though that poem was really cool Hose. I will admit [though only in parentheses, which really don’t count] that I mostly wanted an excuse to expose everyone to Calvino, because he’s amazing.)

Anyway, don't worry too much; Johnny will post tomorrow, then the posting will resume it's rightful order. So nobody hyperventilate or anything. We've officially had it up for a week!! :)

tvtb,
Ruth
